In planning an interview study as part of collecting qualitative data, the first consideration should be what type of interview to conduct. There are several different forms and they yield different kinds of data (see for example Helfferich, 2019). A dialogue produces other forms of data than a monologue. According to Helfferich (2019), a good interviewer needs the following skills: Technical competence, Interactive competence: attention and steering, competencies in communication theory and knowing how to deal with previous knowledge and personal bias.
