Teenagers often start smoking to look grown-up, many of them don’t need our lections about how dangerous smoking is; they just think that smoking is cool.Every time when they see somebody smoking on the street, this fact serves as evidence that smoking is cool indeed.Talking about the influence of smoking on teenagers and children, we must mention such a thing as second hand smoke.
According to researches of the Center for Disease Control, secondhand smoke is not less dangerous than regular smoking, since it contains more than 250 toxic chemicals, fifty of which are considered causing cancer (CDC, 2009).
According to latest data, second hand smoke has an impact on smokers and on non-smokers as well.
Children always imitate our behavior, and they cannot understand what is right, and what is wrong.
They just do what we do, so when they see how we smoke in public places, they accept smoking as something natural.
Deaths of non-smokers are often a result of somebody else’s bad habits, and this fact is really horrible.
By banning smoking in all public areas, we force smokers to quit, or at least, to smoke less.Even though we all know how many bad consequences smoking causes on our health, many of us still make this unhealthy choice.Every smoker understands how dangerous it is, but they make their personal choice. The Californian Environmental Protection Agency states that, every year, more than 3,400 people die from lung cancer. This statistic considered deaths caused by such a kind of passive smoking. It is a message from the government, and it shows that the government really cares about the health of the citizens. It’s a good way to remind people how important their health is.Smoking ban prevents children from this bad habit, promoting healthy lifestyle, though limiting freedom of smokers.Such a simple approach will not only safe lives of smokers, but also protect people around them.Obviously, banning smoking on the government level is not the best way to fight such a tendency. However, the damage from smoking affects not only smokers, but also people around them.Every time somebody lights up a cigarette, everyone around can smell this smoke, breath it, and so get damaged by it.
